Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Transport Operations Manager to oversee the Port Elizabeth logistics and fleet management. You will lead a team, optimize routes, maintain fleet standards and implement best practices, balancing on-site leadership with remote work when appropriate.

The role emphasizes safety, cost control and continuous improvement to enhance service delivery and efficiency in the Eastern Cape region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in a management or supervisory role within transport/logistics.
• Strong knowledge of fleet management, route planning and supply chain operations.
• Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
• Hybrid role requiring on-site leadership with remote work flexibility.
• Valid driver's license and budget management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the transport department.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize fleet performance and delivery schedules.
• Supervise, train, and mentor drivers and logistics personnel, fostering safety and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with transportation laws, regulations and company policies.
• Manage fleet maintenance programs to ensure safety and reliability.
• Oversee the transport department budget and identify cost savings.
• Analyze data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with sales, warehousing and customer service for seamless operations.
• Handle escalated customer inquiries and complex dispatch challenges.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency.
