Placements24 seeks a Facilities Maintenance & Sanitation Lead for the George, Western Cape area. The role oversees day-to-day maintenance and sanitation for commercial properties, balancing on-site supervision with off-site planning to ensure safe, clean, and functional environments for tenants and visitors.

The ideal candidate has facilities management and sanitation expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to troubleshoot.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory experience in facilities management.
• Knowledge of general building maintenance procedures and sanitation best practices.
• Experience coordinating work schedules for a small team.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and inventory effectively.
• Must reside in George or be able to commute reliably; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate maintenance and sanitation staff activities.
• Develop and implement cleaning and minor maintenance schedules for properties.
• Ensure common areas, facilities, and grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and sanitation needs.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, maintenance parts, and equipment.
• Train staff on maintenance techniques, safety procedures, and cleaning best practices.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with property managers and tenants to address concerns and satisfaction.
• Oversee waste management and recycling programs for properties.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs.
