Placements24 is seeking an energetic Energy Trader for Port Elizabeth on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on buying and selling electricity and related commodities to optimize the portfolio and manage risk, leveraging market data and analytics to seize profitable opportunities.

You will monitor trends, develop trading strategies, and ensure compliance with market regulations while collaborating with brokers and internal teams to deliver strong performance in a dynamic energy market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Proven experience in energy trading or related financial markets.
• Strong understanding of electricity markets, commodity trading and risk management.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in trading platforms and market data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Execute physical and financial energy trades across various market platforms.
• Monitor market trends, news and data to identify trading opportunities.
• Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability and manage risk.
