Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to enforce robust safety protocols and ensure environmental compliance across energy operations in Benoni. You will conduct audits, develop training programs, and implement EHS initiatives across multiple sites.

The role emphasizes risk assessments, incident investigations, and ongoing reporting to management while supporting a flexible hybrid work arrangement and development opportunities in EHS certifications.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
• Knowledge of South African OHS Act and environmental legislation.
• Strong ability to apply risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
• Organize and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and emissions control.
• Prepare EHS reports for management and regulatory agencies.
