Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking a reliable Full-time Delivery Van Driver to serve the Pretoria, Gauteng region. The role combines on-the-road deliveries with depot-based duties and administrative tasks at the local depot, ensuring timely and safe deliveries and high customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Code B license, a proven delivery background, familiarity with Gauteng’s road network, and strong communication, time-management and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (Code B or higher) and a clean driving record.
• Previous delivery driver experience or similar role.
• Familiarity with the Gauteng road network, especially Pretoria.
• Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to undergo a background check and provide references.
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a delivery van in a safe and efficient manner to transport goods to customers.
• Plan daily routes to optimize delivery times and ensure all scheduled deliveries are completed.
• Load and unload packages, ensuring items are handled with care and secured properly.
• Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally with clients.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, including proof of delivery, mileage, and any issues encountered.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or delivery discrepancies to the supervisor promptly.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the delivery van.
• Assist with sorting and organizing packages at the depot as required.
