Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto, Gauteng, seeks a Full-Time Child Psychologist & Behavioral Specialist to assess, diagnose, and treat children with behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs. The role blends on-site client work in Soweto with remote duties for reports and telehealth where appropriate.

The ideal candidate has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, HPCSA-registered, and at least 5 years of post-doctoral experience with children and adolescents.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Psychologist.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral clinical experience working with children and adolescents.
• Expertise in child psychopathology, developmental disorders, and behavioral interventions.
• Proficiency in conducting a wide range of psychological assessments.
• Strong therapeutic skills, including CBT, play therapy, and family systems therapy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments, including diagnostic interviews and standardized testing, for children of various ages.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessments and client needs.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based modalities.
• Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring timely and thorough documentation of progress.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and other professionals to support the child's well-being.
• Provide consultation and training to families and educational institutions on child development and behavioral management.
