Placements24 is seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our Paarl team. You will design, build, and maintain server-side logic, APIs, and databases, collaborating with frontend developers to deliver robust backend solutions.

A hybrid work model is available, offering in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of backend experience and strong knowledge of Python, Java, or Node.js, plus databases and RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Node.js with at least one framework.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB.
• Understanding RESTful API design.
• Experience with Git.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Knowledge of microservices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using Python, Java, or Node.js.
• Develop and manage relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Implement security and data protection measures.
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade backend systems.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging backend technologies and best practices.
• Work in an Agile environment with sprint planning and reviews.
