Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of complex electrical systems for new vehicle platforms. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration at our Free State facility with remote data analysis and documentation.

You will work with CAD and simulation tools, while coordinating with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to advance electrification and ADAS technologies, ensuring quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in automotive electrical system design and development.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software for schematic generation and harness design.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical standards, protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Experience with simulation tools (SPICE, ANSYS) and modeling techniques.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 is desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical system architectures for automotive applications, including wiring harnesses, power distribution, and ECUs.
• Specify components meeting performance, reliability, and cost targets.
• Create and maintain schematics and diagrams using CAD tools (E3.series, Zuken E3).
• Perform system-level simulations to validate designs and predict performance.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams.
• Develop and execute test plans for electrical systems on lab and vehicle environments.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues identified during development or production.
• Ensure designs comply with ISO 26262 and customer specifications.
• Stay updated on electrification, ADAS, and vehicle networking.
