Job summary

E-Merge IT Recruitment is seeking an Intermediate AI Engineer to join the IDEA team in Sandton, focusing on Generative AI, LLMs, and enterpriseAI solutions across voice and digital channels. The role involves developing AI solutions with Python, APIs, and cloud tech, supporting NLP/NLU, STT/TTS, and AI workflows, and contributing to testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Candidates should have a degree in CS or related field and 4+ years in software/AI, with an interest in African-language AI

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or related field.
• 4+ years of software development or AI/ML experience.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with APIs, cloud platforms, and data handling.
• Familiarity with Generative AI and LLMs is a plus.
• Interest in African-language AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing Generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
• Support AI voice bots, chatbots and conversational AI.
• Develop and integrate NLP/NLU, STT, and TTS capabilities.
• Assist with prompt engineering, RAG, LLM orchestration, and AI workflows.
• Develop and integrate AI solutions using Python, APIs, and cloud technologies.
• Support testing, deployment, monitoring, and optimisation of AI solutions.
• Work with data and technology teams to prepare and integrate data for AI applications.
• Assist in investigating AI performance and data integration issues.
• Explore emerging African-language AI and speech technologies.
