Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Actuarial Analyst in Benoni, Gauteng, to strengthen pricing and reserving functions for an international insurance group. You will develop actuarial models for pricing products, set technical provisions, and partner with underwriting, finance, and risk teams.

The role requires pursuing actuarial qualifications, at least 3 years in pricing or reserving, and proficiency in Prophet, R, Python, and Excel. A hybrid workplace in Benoni offers modern tools and study support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing actuarial qualifications with a recognized actuarial society.
• Minimum 3 years of actuarial pricing or reserving experience in the insurance industry.
• Proficiency in Prophet, R, Python and advanced Excel.
• Strong understanding of insurance principles and financial mathematics.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain actuarial models for pricing insurance products accurately.
• Calculate and set appropriate technical provisions (reserves) for existing and future claims liabilities.
• Perform profitability analysis and provide recommendations for pricing adjustments.
• Analyze historical claims data and other relevant information to identify trends and patterns.
• Assist in the development of new insurance products by providing actuarial input.
• Prepare actuarial reports and present findings to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant actuarial standards, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure data integrity and the efficient functioning of actuarial systems.
• Stay updated on actuarial methodologies, software tools, and industry best practices.
• Support internal and external audits related to actuarial functions.
