Our projects are typically large-scale and turnkey, taking clients from design and engineering through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on HVAC Site Manager – Ventilation & Ducting to take responsibility for one of our two dedicated site installation teams.
This is a key role within our growing business and would suit someone who enjoys being on site, solving problems, coordinating people and equipment, and taking ownership of getting projects completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day execution of ventilation and HVAC installation projects. You will work closely with our Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, Production Manager and Draftsmen to ensure projects move efficiently from planning through to successful completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of ventilation, HVAC and ducting installation projects.
- Lead, coordinate and motivate a dedicated site installation team.
- Plan and coordinate site activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within requirements.
- Conduct pre-installation site visits with Mechanical Engineers and Draftsmen to understand project requirements, site conditions and installation requirements.
- Interpret technical drawings, layouts and engineering plans and ensure installations are completed accordingly.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers regarding technical, logistical and site-related requirements.
- Identify and implement practical, cost‑effective solutions to resolve site challenges and keep projects moving.
- Plan site requirements in advance, including the hiring and coordination of cranes, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, scaffolding and other installation equipment.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and other external stakeholders as required.
- Ensure the required safety files and site documentation are in place before work commences.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety requirements and client‑specific site rules.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify potential delays, risks and issues and take proactive action to resolve them.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and housekeeping on site.
- Ensure effective communication between the site team, engineering, production and project management.
- Assist with the successful handover and commissioning of completed installations.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Proven experience managing mechanical, HVAC, ventilation or ducting installation projects.
- Strong ducting installation experience is essential.
- Experience managing and coordinating site installation teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
- Practical understanding of mechanical/HVAC installations and site execution.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, equipment and site resources.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel and work at project sites as required.
- A technical or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Construction Management or a related field will be advantageous.
