Placements24 is seeking a specialized Mechanical Engineer focused on HVAC systems for our Sandton-based projects. You will design, install, and maintain HVAC systems for commercial and industrial applications, ensuring performance, efficiency, and code compliance.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years in HVAC design, and proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD. The role offers a hybrid work model and diverse, impactful projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of HVAC design experience.
• In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (Revit MEP, AutoCAD) and energy modeling tools.
• Familiarity with building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE).
• Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/piping layout.
• Prepare detailed HVAC drawings, specifications, and control sequences for new installations and retrofits.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and diagnose issues with existing HVAC systems, recommending appropriate solutions.
• Optimize system performance for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
