Job summary

Helderberg Personnel seeks a seasoned HR leader to drive the full HR function for a prestigious wine estate and its luxury hospitality, vineyard, cellar and farming operations. You will oversee payroll, recruitment, policy development and employee engagement, partnering with department heads to align workforce planning with strategic goals.

Requirements include a degree/diploma in HR or related field, 5+ years in HRM within luxury hospitality, and strong SA labour law knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' Human Resources Management experience within luxury hospitality environments (wine estate experience preferred).
  • Proven experience managing full HR function including payroll and statutory submissions.
  • Extensive knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full HR function across the business.
  • Manage weekly wages, monthly payroll, leave administration and statutory payroll submissions.
  • Maintain HR records, employee files, time & attendance systems and HR compliance.
  • Manage the full recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Draft employment contracts, job descriptions and HR documentation.
  • Advise management on labour legislation, HR policies and best practice.
  • Lead disciplinary hearings, grievances, performance and CCMA matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Equity, Skills Development, UIF, COIDA and all labour legislation.
  • Drive performance management, remuneration reviews, training and employee development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures and employee engagement programmes.
  • Partner with Heads of Department to support operational objectives and workforce planning.
  • Lead HR projects that enhance employee experience, compliance and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the full HR function across the business

  • Maintaining HR records, employee files, time & attendance systems and HR compliance

Criteria
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years' Human Resources Management experience within a luxury hospitality environment, preferably a wine estate / wine farm, hotel, lodge or tourism operation
  • Proven experience managing the full HR function, including payroll and statutory submissions
  • Extensive knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices
  • Strong Industrial Relations experience, including disciplinary hearings, incapacity processes, retrenchments and CCMA representation
  • Experience using HRIS, payroll and time & attendance systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Professional, confidential and solutions-driven with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels
  • Passion for developing people and fostering a positive workplace culture
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport
