Role Overview

An established organisation is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the full HR function while supporting the business through effective people strategies, compliance, and operational excellence.

This role is suited to a hands‑on HR professional with strong leadership capability, solid labour law knowledge, and proven experience managing payroll and employee relations in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organisation’s overall business objectives.
  • Support senior management by providing sound HR advice on organisational structure, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance, and retention strategies across the business.
Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Act as a bridge between management and employees by addressing grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace concerns.
  • Support and guide management through performance management discussions, disciplinary processes, and CCMA matters.
  • Ensure full compliance with labour legislation and best HR practices.
Recruitment & Talent Management
  • Manage the end‑to‑end recruitment and selection process, including engagement with recruitment platforms and agencies.
  • Oversee onboarding and induction of new employees and manage the full employee lifecycle, including exit processes.
HR Operations & Payroll
  • Oversee the HR administrative function, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date HR systems and records.
  • Capture payroll information timeously and prepare payroll‑related reports for Finance and Operations.
  • Submit UIF and Employment Equity reports accurately and within required deadlines.
People & Office Management
  • Directly manage and supervise the HR Administrator, Receptionist, and Cleaning staff.
  • Coordinate security arrangements when required, including weekends, public holidays, or shutdown periods.
  • Organise and coordinate staff engagement initiatives and social events throughout the year.
Governance & Reporting
  • Arrange board meetings, take minutes, and prepare HR‑related reporting for monthly board meetings.
  • Provide regular reports on HR activities, risks, and people‑related metrics.
Qualification and Experience:
  • 8–10 years’ experience in Human Resources, with a minimum of 4 years in an HR Management role (non‑negotiable).
  • At least 3 years’ payroll experience (non‑negotiable).
  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field (non‑negotiable).
  • Strong working knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practices.
  • Experience in a retail or sales‑driven environment is advantageous but not essential.
