Phoenix Recruitment Limited is seeking a Hot Kitchen Chef/Griller in Roodepoort to join a busy restaurant team. You will prepare and grill meat, poultry and seafood to recipes, maintain mise en place, and ensure quality while managing portions and dietary needs.

You will coordinate with kitchen sections and support opening and closing duties. The role requires reliable, organized individuals with strong teamwork, able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Hot Kitchen Chef or Griller in a busy restaurant.
• Knowledge of grilling techniques and meat preparation.
• Ability to cook to different levels of doneness.

Duties:

Food Preparation & Grill Service:

• Prepare and cook meat, poultry, seafood and other hot menu items according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
• Grill orders to the requested level of doneness and maintain consistent quality and presentation.
• Ensure mise en place is complete and the hot kitchen section is ready before service.
• Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Follow portion controls and communicate dietary requirements and allergies carefully.

Stock Control & Kitchen Standards:

• Monitor ingredient freshness, storage and stock rotation.
• Minimise food wastage and report shortages promptly.
• Keep grills, cooking equipment and workstations clean and organised.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling procedures.
• Report equipment faults and maintenance concerns.
• Assist with kitchen opening and closing duties.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Hot Kitchen Chef or Griller within a busy restaurant.
• Strong practical knowledge of grilling techniques, cooking temperatures and meat preparation.
• Ability to cook accurately to different levels of doneness.
• Good understanding of portion control, food storage and stock rotation.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A reliable, organised approach and attention to detail.
