Placements24 is seeking an expert High-Performance Cycling Coach to lead an elite development program in Upington, South Africa. You will create individualized training plans and deliver on-bike/off-bike coaching for athletes targeting national and international events.

The role requires 7+ years of high-level coaching experience, a UCI accreditation, and a passion for athlete well-being and ethical coaching.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years coaching competitive cycling at high-performance or national level.
• UCI coaching accreditation and strong theoretical foundation in exercise physiology & biomechanics.
• Proven success developing athletes to top results in major competitions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
• Experience with training monitoring tools and performance data analysis.
• Deep passion for cycling and commitment to athlete well-being and ethical coaching.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement progressive, science-based training programs for elite cyclists across road, track, MTB.
• Provide on-bike and off-bike coaching: technique, strategy, pacing, nutrition, mental prep.
• Assess athletes, monitor load, analyze data, adjust training plans accordingly.
• Mentor athletes to build resilience, discipline, and competitive mindset.
• Collaborate with physiotherapists and nutritionists for holistic development.
• Stay current with cycling science and training tech to maintain competitive edge.

About the Role

This role is responsible for guiding talented cyclists to achieve their maximum potential, from national to international competitions. You will develop individualized training plans, provide expert technical and tactical coaching, and foster a positive, results-driven team environment. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of cycling physiology, training methodologies, and a proven ability to inspire athletes to peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement progressive, science-based training programs for elite cycling athletes, considering all disciplines (road, track, MTB, etc.).
• Provide direct on-bike and off-bike coaching, focusing on technique, strategy, pacing, nutrition, and mental preparation.
• Conduct thorough athlete assessments, monitor training load, and analyze performance data to make informed adjustments to training plans.
• Mentor and support athletes in developing resilience, discipline, and a strong competitive mindset.
