Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to cover Randburg, Gauteng, performing installation, maintenance and repairs on heavy industrial equipment.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform inspections, and provide customer training while managing schedules and service reports. Travel within the region and occasional overnight stays are required. Valid driver's license and autonomous work style are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably with heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong diagnostic skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the Randburg, Gauteng area and occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
• Provide technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Manage service schedules and travel efficiently within the designated territory.
• Maintain accurate service reports, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory for service calls.
• Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to resolve complex technical issues.
