Placements24 is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic for a mine-support role near Welkom, Free State. The job involves maintaining, repairing, and overhaul of excavators, loaders, dozers and haul trucks in a demanding environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy diesel equipment, expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics and powertrains, and proficiency with diagnostic tools. Safety and accurate record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with heavy duty diesel equipment, preferably in mining or construction.
• Proven expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics and powertrain systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software for heavy machinery.
• Strong safety awareness for large industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on heavy duty diesel equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on mining and earthmoving machinery.
• Overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using specialized equipment and software.
• Interpret manuals, blueprints and schematics to execute repairs.
