Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Superintendent to lead safety initiatives for mining operations near Mahikeng. This role develops, implements and monitors comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

You will champion a strong safety culture, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with legislation and best practices. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in mining.
• Registered as a Professional Practitioner in Safety Management (Pr.ISP).
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation (MHSA).
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence.
• Experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site's health and safety management system.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Lead and investigate incidents, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and management.
