Job summary

Together Staffing group is assisting a Food FMCG manufacturing facility in Gauteng to recruit a Health and Safety Manager. The role focuses on driving compliance, reducing workplace risks, and ensuring a safe environment across the site.

You will lead policy development, audits, training, and incident investigations. The ideal candidate has a relevant Environmental Health degree, SAMTRAC, 3–5 years in health and safety within food/manufacturing, and strong analytical abilities to improve safety

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• Environmental Health Degree and SAMTRAC certification required.
• 3–5 years of Health and Safety experience in Food/FMCG/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
• Investigate incidents, analyse trends, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate health and safety training and awareness initiatives.
• Monitor contractor safety performance and site safety.
• Prepare reports and maintain health and safety documentation.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to meet safety objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving health and safety compliance, reducing workplace risks, and ensuring a safe working environment across the facility

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory health and safety requirements
• Investigate incidents, analyse trends, and implement corrective actions
• Coordinate health and safety training and awareness initiatives
• Monitor contractor compliance and site safety performance
• Prepare reports and maintain health and safety documentation
• Work closely with production, engineering, and management teams to achieve safety objectives

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Environmental Health Degree
• SAMTRAC
• 3 - 5 Years experience in a Health and Safety role within Food, FMCG, or manufacturing
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant legislation
• Experience with ISO 45001, HACCP and food manufacturing environments
