Responsibilities

• Oversee or support the day-to-day running of the kitchen across all meal services, ensuring consistent food quality, presentation and hygiene standards.
• Assist with or lead menu planning, development and seasonal updates in line with the restaurant's direction and style.
• Lead kitchen operations and service when required; oversee preparation, production and service across all sections.
• Train, mentor and motivate junior kitchen staff, maintaining a professional and well‑organised team.
• Assist with stock control, waste management and supplier ordering.

Our client is a well-established boutique hotel situated in Plettenberg Bay, offering a refined hospitality experience on the Garden Route. The property features a full restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, a bar, a wine cellar and a wellness offering, set within beautifully manicured gardens and catering to discerning guests year-round. The role will be filled at either Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef level depending on the successful candidate's experience and fit. In either case, the candidate will play a key role in maintaining and elevating culinary standards across all meal services within a close-knit kitchen team. The ideal candidate is already based in or genuinely looking to relocate to the Plettenberg Bay area.
