Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Head of Department for Science Education at a prestigious Stellenbosch institution. You will lead the science education program, mentor educators, and drive innovation in pedagogy to foster inquiry and excellence.

The role requires a Master’s in Science Education with PGCE, at least 7 years of science teaching including 3 in leadership, and outstanding strategic and communication skills in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Science Education or related field with a PGCE or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in science, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of educators.
• Deep understanding of science curriculum frameworks and pedagogy.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the Science Education department staff.
• Oversee development, implementation, and improvement of the science curriculum across grades.
• Ensure high standards of teaching and learning in science subjects with inquiry-based and hands-on learning.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and facilities.
• Represent the department at school leadership meetings and engage with parents and the wider school community.
