A leading commercial risk specialist in Southern Africa is seeking a Head of Pricing to lead pricing strategy across multiple short-term insurance lines, including Commercial, Personal, Marine, Engineering, and Hospitality. This senior role will oversee a team of ~10 and play a key role in pricing model development, portfolio analysis, and stakeholder alignment to support the business’s financial goals.
Develop, assess, and optimize pricing strategies.
Lead complex pricing projects and integrate actuarial analysis into decision-making.
Guide portfolio performance analysis and drive corrective actions.
Manage, mentor, and develop the pricing team.
Oversee pricing tools and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
Provide actuarial support and reporting for strategic initiatives.
Work cross-functionally with Underwriting, IT, Claims, Sales, and external partners.
University degree (NQF Level 7) in Actuarial Science or related field.
FASSA qualification or international equivalent.
5+ years in short-term insurance pricing, including modelling and deployment.
Experience in project management and senior actuarial advisory.
Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of actuarial pricing tools (SAS, VBA, etc.).
Deep understanding of insurance industry trends, regulations, and IT systems.
Proficient in portfolio optimization, underwriting, and financial analysis.
