Job summary

Moniepoint Inc. in South Africa seeks a Head of Engineering for the POS Applications Platform. This fully remote role guides the platform that underpins our POS devices across markets, establishing architecture, tooling, and engineering standards.

You will lead a distributed team, drive cross-functional collaboration with Payments, Onboarding, and Business leadership, and scale the platform as Moniepoint expands internationally. This is a senior, hands-on, organiational platform leadership role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with 6+ years leading engineering teams in multi-national or large VC-backed companies.
• Direct, hands-on experience building software that runs on Point-of-Sale terminal devices; engineering on the device itself, not server-side integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform, acting as the domain CTO for everything that runs on our POS devices.
• Build and govern the four core platform pillars across the organisation: developer experience, platform reliability, foundational frameworks, and squad adoption.
• Define and enforce engineering standards across all POS device types and OEM manufacturers.
• Lead POS engineers embedded across Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads.
• Own POS observability end-to-end: monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
