Primary Purpose
Accountable for managing Finance for Personal and Business Banking, including finance strategy, business finance, financial control, business performance, financial planning, and analysis. This role involves developing a financial and operational strategy, creating long-term strategic plans, and business cases for new initiatives. The role manages staff with both national and regional reporting and is part of the senior management team of retail and business banking. Collaborating with the executive member for personal and business banking to set the strategy is key.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
FINANCE
Strategic Finance
- Oversee the process for business cases within customer solutions for new initiatives.
- Oversee pricing models within customer solutions to support strategic pricing decisions.
- Support new initiatives within customer solutions.
- Support and manage strategic planning across all businesses within customer solutions.
Business Performance
- Ensure all mandatory reporting for customer solutions is accurate and timely.
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team within customer solutions.
- Manage third-party functions outsourced by the company.
- Maintain in-depth relations with all management team members.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee financial planning for all business units within customer solutions, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support bank executive discussions on business unit performance.
Stakeholders
- Build credible and effective stakeholder relationships.
- Create partnerships with business owners.
Financial Operations
- Oversee financial operations and participate in key operational financial decisions.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Strategic Finance
- Ensure models are updated and maintained by team members.
- Oversee pricing discussions and model usage by team members.
Business Performance
- Oversee all business performance data, ensuring relevance and usefulness for driving performance.
- Utilize information to enhance performance within customer solutions.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee financial planning and analysis processes within customer solutions.
Financial Operations
- Ensure financial operations are correctly executed to minimize risks.
- Manage end-to-end finance functions for customer solutions, including direct and indirect reports.
LEARNING AND GROWTH
Training of Subordinates
- Promote multi-skilling within teams and provide exposure across functions based on capabilities.
- Arrange training aligned with employees' development needs and encourage ownership of professional growth.
- Engage in coaching and mentoring.
Requirements
Qualifications: ACMA / CA (SA) plus Masters qualification.
Experience: Over 10 years in financial positions within banking, including roles as divisional head or CFO, with at least 5 years in personal, business banking, and card sectors. Management experience of over 5 years.
