Responsibilities

• Represent the company and manage relationships with stakeholders.
• Respond to enquiries via email, phone, and visits.

• Prepare operational plans, reports and ensure ISO and safety compliance.
• Oversee regional service centres' operations.
• Ensure health and safety compliance within the department.
• Review reports and drive process and technology improvements.
• Lead project implementations and coordinate teams.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets and forecast expenses.
• Assess IT infrastructure needs and implement solutions.

Our client, a leading player in the FMCG and Construction industries, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead their technical operations and drive excellence across their regional service centres.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the engineering division, oversee compliance with industry standards, and deliver impactful projects that support the company's growth and operational efficiency.

Duties

• Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and clients.


• Respond to and follow up on enquiries via email, telephone, and personal visits.


• Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with business objectives.


• Prepare operational plans, reports, and monitor compliance with legislation, policies, and ISO standards.


• Oversee the operational functioning of the Regional Service Centres.


• Ensure health and safety compliance within the department.


• Review reports, identify problem areas, and implement process and technological improvements.


• Manage project implementations, evaluate progress, and coordinate project teams.


• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecast expenses, and control costs.


• Assess IT infrastructure needs and oversee solutions to ensure smooth processes.


• Liaise with customers to finalize technical specifications and assist in problem resolution.


• Ensure compliance with policies and safety standards, minimizing risks.


• Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, managing performance, discipline, and training.

Requirements

• National Certificate NQF Level 4 / Grade 12.


• Relevant Engineering University Degree.


• 5 to 8 years of experience in a senior engineering management role.


• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills.


• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and risk management abilities.


• Proficiency in budgeting, team management, and compliance protocols.

Familiarity with the following

• FMCG and Construction industry standards.


• ISO requirements and safety legislation.
