Job summary

Recruitment Matters Africa (Pvt) Ltd is seeking an experienced Driver Training specialist in Johannesburg to design and deliver induction, refresher and advanced training programs. You will assess driver competency, ensure compliance with RTMS, OHS and company policies, and lead a team to improve safety and performance.

The role requires strong leadership, coaching abilities and a solid background in telematics-driven training, with a focus on measurable KPIs and documented training records.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years’ experience in driver training within logistics, transport or fleet operations.
• Strong knowledge of road safety, RTMS, OHS, defensive driving and driver compliance.
• Valid driver’s licence, preferably EC, with strong practical driving knowledge.
• Experience developing and managing driver training and competency programmes.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Experience using telematics and driver performance data.
• Excellent planning, communication, reporting and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage driver induction, refresher, corrective and advanced training programmes.
• Assess driver competency through practical and theoretical evaluations.
• Ensure driver training complies with legislation, RTMS, OHS and company requirements.
• Lead and coordinate the driver training team, schedules and resources.
• Investigate incidents and use telematics data to identify training needs.
• Work with Operations, Fleet, HR and Safety teams to improve driver performance.
• Maintain accurate training records and prepare performance reports.
• Monitor KPIs and continuously improve driver safety and training standards.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Relevant qualification in Transport, Logistics, Fleet Management, Training or a related field.
• Valid EC driver’s licence preferred.
