Job summary

NOSA is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to be based on-site at a client operation in the Port Elizabeth region. This is a specialist, hands-on role for a seasoned Code 14 driver with genuine driver-training credentials — not a general driving role.

The role requires delivering classroom theory and practical on-road training, maintaining training records, and coaching drivers to improve safety and performance on heavy vehicles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years hands-on driving experience on a Code 14 vehicle.
  • Minimum 5 years experience specifically in driver training.
  • Valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
  • Valid Driving Instructor's Permit.
  • TETA accreditation is advantageous.
  • Valid HSE Medical Certificate confirming fitness for the role.
  • Proven ability to deliver classroom training and on-road training/assessments.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Basic computer literacy — email, internet/web searches, and navigating standard business systems.
  • Ability to work independently on a client site within a corporate reporting structure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-employment driving assessments for prospective drivers
  • Deliver classroom-based theoretical training on vehicle operations, safety, and legislation
  • Conduct practical on-road training and driver assessments
  • Apply extensive, hands-on knowledge of heavy vehicle (Code 14) operations
  • Coach and mentor drivers to improve skill, safety compliance, and performance
  • Maintain accurate training records and assessment documentation using basic computer systems
  • Operate independently on client site while reporting into the Technical Training Manager
  • Represent the company professionally within a corporate/client environment

About the Role

NOSA is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to be based on-site at a client operation in the Port Elizabeth region. This is a specialist, hands-on role for a seasoned Code 14 driver with genuine driver-training credentials — not a general driving role.

Please note: Due to the technical and legal nature of this position, only candidates who meet all of the minimum requirements below will be considered. Applications from candidates without the required driving instructor/assessor credentials will not be shortlisted.

  • TETA accreditation advantageous
  • Valid HSE Medical Certificate confirming medical fitness for the role
  • Proven ability to deliver both classroom training and on-road practical training/assessments
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring ability
  • Basic computer literacy — email, internet/web searches, and navigating standard business systems
  • Ability to work independently on a client site while integrating into a corporate reporting structure
  • Professional, self-managed, and able to represent the brand appropriately in a client-facing
