Job summary

Stellantis is seeking a Head of Demand Planning & Supply Chain to lead the demand forecasting and align supply plans with business objectives in South Africa. The role requires driving accuracy, profitability, and efficiency across procurement, production planning, inventory, warehousing, and transportation.

You will lead cross-functional teams, refine forecasting techniques, and partner with Sales, Marketing and Operations to optimize the end-to-end supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, statistics, or related field.
  • Certifications in CPIM or CSCP from APICS are highly beneficial.

JOB TITLE: Head: Demand Planning & Supply Chain

REPORTS TO: Group Head – Sales Ops, Demand Planning & Supply Chain

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Head: Demand Planning & Supply Chain is a key role within the Sales Planning & Supply Chain Operations team in Stellantis. The role is responsible for managing the creation, maintaining, and improving the demand forecast. The Head: Demand Planning & Supply Chain works closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to gather and analyze data, make accurate forecasts, and ensure that supply plans align with demand. They are responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of goods and managing inventory, transportation, and warehousing while ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They also engage in demand and supply planning, aligning it with production schedules to meet business objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Certifications in demand planning or supply chain management, such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS, are highly beneficial.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

  • Analytical Skills: Should have robust analytical abilities to interpret complex data and generate insights to optimize demand planning, inventory, improve logistics & supply chain
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with demand planning, supply chain, logistics and inventory management software and ERP software (like SAP APO, Oracle Demantra, etc.) and proficiency in MS Excel, and other data analysis tools is required.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are needed to effectively convey complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Collaboration Skills: The ability to work well with different teams and departments, such as sales, marketing, and operations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems, evaluate possible solutions, and implement effective remedies in a timely manner is necessary.
  • Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for detail is required when dealing with complex data sets and forecasting models where minor errors can have significant impacts.
  • Decision-Making Skills: The ability to make sound decisions, often under pressure and with incomplete information.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies and a mindset of continuous improvement are desirable.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Having a solid understanding of the automotive industry, including its unique market dynamics and product lifecycle.
  • Ideally, candidates should have several years of experience in a demand planning & supply chain role, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with Sales and Operations Planning processes is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma. They should have the ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement them.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain an accurate demand forecast by applying statistical modelling, historical data, and market trends.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand promotional activities, market trends, and changes in product demand.
  • Lead the demand review meetings within the Sales and Operations Planning process.
  • Conduct regular forecast accuracy reviews and root cause analyses of any significant variances. Take corrective actions to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Track and report on forecast accuracy and other key performance indicators.
  • Support the supply planning process by providing an accurate demand forecast.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns, and to ensure alignment between the demand forecast and operational plans.
  • Supply Chain Management: Manage the complete supply chain process, including procurement, production planning, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and delivery to customers.
  • Continually improve forecasting techniques, methods, and approaches.
