Job summary

HotelJobs is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead operations across its growing Johannesburg restaurants, specialising in steakhouse, Greek and Italian cuisine. This fast-paced role involves developing kitchen teams, implementing standards, and supporting new openings as the group expands.

You will oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, maintain food quality and cost control, train staff, manage rosters, and ensure hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Head Chef or senior kitchen leader.
• Experience in steakhouse, Greek or Italian cuisine is advantageous.
• Strong cost management and staff development skills.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen brigade.
• Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation and taste.
• Maintain recipe consistency, portion control and presentation.
• Oversee kitchen performance during busy services.
• Monitor food quality across all kitchen sections.
• Manage food costs, wastage and inventory levels.
• Train staff on recipes, methods and standards.
