Job summary

Goldi, part of the Astral Group, invites applications for a Hatchery Manager to lead the Standerton hatchery, drive production efficiency, and ensure quality and welfare standards. The role focuses on leadership, cost control, and compliance in a high-pressure poultry environment.

You will manage staff, implement improvement programs, and collaborate with the Hatchery Operations Manager to meet KPI targets while maintaining asset integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• BSC Degree in Agriculture or relevant qualification advantageous.
• 5+ years of experience in hatchery operations or poultry management.
• Experience with hatchery management software and data analysis tools.
• Budget management and financial forecasting.
• Understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driving license.
• Able to work under pressure and proactively solve problems.
• Adaptable to changing environments.
• Passion for people and animals.
• Computer skills (MS Office, Outlook).
• Good health and sober habits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Standerton hatchery operations including incubation, hatching and chick delivery.
• Manage and mentor a diverse team, uphold safety and accountability.
• Develop strategies to maximise productivity while minimising costs.
• Establish and maintain bio-security protocols and compliance.
• Maintain assets and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs and take corrective actions to meet targets.
• Assist in budgeting and control running expenses.
• Ensure quality and hygiene standards for production.
• Adhere to health, safety, risk and welfare requirements.
