Job summary

Phoenix Recruitment in South Africa seeks a hands-on Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of hotel buildings, facilities and grounds. You'll handle general repairs (plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry), assist with larger projects, support electrical/technical tasks, and ensure work complies with safety standards and SOPs.

2+ years in hotel/property maintenance is preferred; matric and basic tools knowledge required; a valid driver's

Qualifications

• Matric certificate required; technical maintenance background preferred.
• Technical qualification in facilities/maintenance/engineering or related field beneficial.
• Minimum 2 years in electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC repair and maintenance.
• Hotel or property maintenance experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safe working procedures for electrical tools and equipment.
• Basic hand tools and electrical knowledge expected; valid driver's license beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the property.

• Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.

• Assist with installation and maintenance of electrical wiring and CCTV cabling.
• Identify and report faults requiring specialist attention; follow SOPs and safety rules.
• Move furniture and equipment as required; keep work areas clean and safe.

Duties

General Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the property.
• Check the maintenance log daily and complete assigned repair requests.
• Maintain the overall condition of hotel buildings, facilities and surrounding grounds.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.

Repairs & Property Upkeep

• Carry out general repairs, including: Plumbing Electrical repairs Painting Varnishing Tiling Carpentry Door locks and keys Light fittings and bulb replacements Minor building repairs Repair damaged walls, fixtures and fittings.
• Assist with larger maintenance and refurbishment projects when required.

Electrical & Technical Support

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of electrical wiring.
• Support network and CCTV cabling installations.
• Identify and report faults requiring specialist attention.
• Report equipment failures and maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Manager.

Operational Support

• Move furniture and equipment as required.
• Maintain tools and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations.
• Follow hotel policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform additional maintenance duties as reasonably requested by management.

Requirements

• Matric Certificate
• Technical qualification in Facilities/Maintenance/Engineering or related field beneficial
• Minimum of 2 years general electrical, plumbing, and/or air conditioning and heat pump repairs and maintenance
• Hotel or property maintenance experience would be advantageous
• Knowledge of safe working procedures of electrical tools and equipment
• Basic hand tools and electrical knowledge
• Valid Drivers license would be beneficial
