Job summary

Ann Swann Personnel Services is seeking a capable Engineer with sales acumen to drive technical sales and business development. The role combines client canvassing, requirements analysis, and proposal preparation with engineering support to deliver tailored solutions.

You will conduct site visits, build relationships with clients, and assist in project planning from concept through to implementation. Travel to client sites will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/masters level engineering education required.
• Coursework in project planning or project management preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Valid driver’s license required; willingness to travel domestically.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Sales & Business Development – Approximately 80%

• Conduct canvassing and cold calling to identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Generate and qualify prospective sales leads within the relevant market.
• Conduct regular client and prospective client site visits.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with new and existing clients.
• Conduct market research, analysis, and customer segmentation to identify potential opportunities.
• Understand client requirements and assist in identifying suitable technical solutions.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting sales documentation.
• Conduct outbound sales activities and participate in negotiations with prospective clients.
• Follow up on quotations, proposals, and potential business opportunities.
• Maintain awareness of market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity.

Engineering & Project Support – Approximately 20%

• Assist with the development of technical and engineering solutions based on client requirements.
• Support application engineering activities, including technical calculations and solution selection.
• Assist senior engineers with technical drawings, design work, and engineering analysis.
• Participate in project planning, coordination, implementation, and progress tracking.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting under supervision.
• Assist with project management activities from solution development through to implementation.
• Conduct technical research, data analysis, and reporting where required.
• Ensure work is conducted in accordance with relevant safety regulations and quality standards.
• Participate in mentorship, technical training, and continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Recently completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Engineering) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc (Eng)
• Certificate, short course, or completed coursework in Project Planning / Project Management.
• MS Office proficiency
• Valid driver's license is essential
• Basic knowledge of engineering design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, or similar – advantageous)
• Willingness to travel or work on-site if required.
