Job summary

Sappi is offering a one-year internship for a recent graduate in Geoinformatics or Environmental Science (GIS major) to gain real-world experience in solving spatial data requirements in our Forestry division. Interns are supported by mentors who guide the programme and development during the year.

The role involves investigating spatial data needs, maintaining spatial datasets, responding to spatial queries, and performing basic remote sensing analytics under supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geoinformatics or Geography or equivalent with GIS as a major subject.
• No prior experience required.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams).

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to spatial data requirements.
• Assist in maintaining spatial data and various spatial analyses.
• Provide service to business units regarding spatial queries.
• Complete basic remote sensing analytics.
