Placements24 in Gauteng invites a Geothermal Energy Systems Engineer to join our client in Tembisa. You will design, analyze and optimize geothermal power systems, assess geological data, and develop surface plant components for efficient energy conversion.

The role blends office-based and on-site work, requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in energy/thermal systems, proficiency in MATLAB/ANSYS CAD, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering (or related discipline).
Minimum 5 years of experience in design/analysis of energy/thermal systems, with geothermal focus preferred.
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Responsibilities

Perform technical assessments and feasibility studies for geothermal projects.
Design and optimize geothermal wellbore systems, including drilling plans and completion strategies.
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for surface geothermal power plants (turbines, heat exchangers).
Conduct thermodynamic analysis and simulations to maximize energy conversion efficiency.
Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling experts throughout projects.
Prepare specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
Oversee procurement and installation of geothermal components.
Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and drive improvements.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
