Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga to support major infrastructure projects, including earthworks, dam foundations, and slope stability analysis. You will conduct site investigations and deliver comprehensive geotechnical design reports.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, is registered with ECSA as Pr. Eng./P.Eng., and has 10+ years of experience with PLAXIS or GEOSTUDIO.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng. or P.Eng.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant geotechnical investigations and design experience.
• Experience in dam engineering, large foundation design and slope stability analysis.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute detailed geotechnical investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties, perform lab testing and interpret results.
• Conduct complex geotechnical analyses such as slope stability and foundation settlement.
• Develop geotechnical design reports and recommendations for foundations and earthworks.
• Prepare technical specs for geotechnical works and contribute to tender docs.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. or P.Eng. is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design for major infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in dam engineering, large foundation design, and slope stability analysis.
• Expertise in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GEOSTUDIO, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of geological conditions and materials relevant to the Mpumalanga region.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to undertake site visits across Mpumalanga and surrounding areas.
