The ideal candidate will have a BEng/BSc in Geotechnical Civil Engineering, be ECSA Pr. Eng-eligible, and bring at least 6 years of coastal geotechnical experience.

Qualifikationen

• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng or eligible to register.

About the Role

Our client, a leading geotechnical and civil engineering firm, is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is integral to supporting the numerous coastal development projects in the region, requiring a solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques in challenging coastal environments. You will be involved in all phases of projects, from initial site investigations and laboratory testing interpretation to detailed design and construction supervision. The position requires a professional who is comfortable working both in the office and on-site. We are looking for a technically proficient engineer with strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering safe and effective geotechnical solutions for complex projects along the coast of Richards Bay .

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute geotechnical site investigations, including drilling programs and in-situ testing.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. or eligible to register is required.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with exposure to coastal projects.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio, Rocscience suite).
• Experience in planning and managing field investigations and laboratory testing.
• Familiarity with relevant South African codes and standards for geotechnical design.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and demanding field conditions.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal , or its surrounds.
