Placements24 seeks a Geotechnical Engineer in Polokwane to lead site investigations, supervise lab tests and prepare comprehensive reports for infrastructure and building projects in Limpopo.

You will analyze soil and rock data, perform foundation design calculations, and ensure compliance with codes and standards while supporting project teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical focus.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (Plaxis, GeoStudio) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and borehole drilling.
• Interpret soil/rock data, conduct laboratory testing, and analyze results.

About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Polokwane . This role involves providing expert analysis and design solutions for ground conditions and foundation engineering for a diverse portfolio of construction projects, including infrastructure and building developments. You will be responsible for site investigations, laboratory testing supervision, and the preparation of comprehensive geotechnical reports. This is a key position for ensuring the stability and safety of structures in Limpopo.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations , including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Interpret soil and rock mechanics data, conduct laboratory testing, and analyze results.
• Perform foundation design calculations for various structures, including shallow and deep foundations.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports, providing design recommendations and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and contractors to provide geotechnical input and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering codes, standards, and best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering .
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience in managing and interpreting field and laboratory testing programs.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
