Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Geophysical Data Analyst to join our exploration team in Centurion. You will interpret seismic and other geophysical data to identify subsurface structures and potential hydrocarbon prospects, working with large datasets and advanced processing techniques in a collaborative, tech-driven environment.

You will collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers, perform velocity analysis, and help translate geophysical findings into exploration strategies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Geoscience, or related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on geophysical data analysis experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with Hampson-Russell, OpendTect and Kingdom Suite software.

Responsibilities

• Process, interpret, and integrate seismic, gravity, and magnetic data for prospect identification.
• Use software for 2D and 3D seismic analysis, attributes, and inversion.
• Perform velocity analysis and depth conversion.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to build subsurface models.
• Quality control raw geophysical data and ensure accuracy of interpretations.

• Contribute to exploration strategy development based on geophysical findings.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands‑on experience in geophysical data analysis and interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geophysical software (e.g., Hampson‑Russell, OpendTect, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information clearly.
