Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geophysical Data Analyst in Bloemfontein to interpret seismic, gravity, and magnetic data and build subsurface models.

You will process, quality-check, and integrate large geophysical datasets with geological information, collaborating with geologists and engineers to guide exploration decisions and investment strategies. A strong background in geophysics and Python is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geophysics or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in geophysical data analysis and interpretation in E&P.
• Proficiency with Petrel, GeoDepth, HampsonRussell, FMI.
• Strong seismic processing and interpretation knowledge.
• Experience with gravity/magnetic data is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process, quality control, and interpret seismic, gravity, and magnetic data.
• Perform data conditioning, migration, and attribute analysis on seismic volumes.
• Integrate geophysical data with geological and well log information to build subsurface models.
• Generate structural and stratigraphic maps, depth maps, and other geophysical products.
• Identify and delineate potential exploration targets based on geophysical evidence.
• Assess uncertainties and risks associated with geophysical interpretations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing geophysical findings.
• Collaborate with geologists and engineers on integrated subsurface studies.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in data visualization and reporting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
