• Proven experience as Generator Maintenance Technician or related field.
• Strong knowledge of generator engines (diesel and gas) and electrical systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on generators, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with generator sets, engines, and control panels.
• Install new generator units and connect them to building power systems.
• Conduct load testing and performance checks to ensure reliability.
• Maintain accurate service records and inventory of spare parts.
• Respond to emergency service calls for generator failures.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable Generator Maintenance Technician to join their team, serving clients in and around Upington . This role involves the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of backup power generation systems for commercial, industrial, and residential clients. You will ensure that these critical systems are always operational and ready to provide power when needed. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, a good understanding of diesel and gas engines, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in the Installation & Maintenance of power solutions within the Northern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on generators, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with generator sets, engines, and control panels.
• Install new generator units and connect them to building power systems.
• Conduct load testing and performance checks to ensure reliability.
• Maintain accurate service records and inventory of spare parts.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Generator Maintenance Technician or in a related field (e.g., diesel mechanic, industrial mechanic).
• Strong knowledge of generator engines (diesel and gas) and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be available for on-call duties periodically in the Upington area.
