Job summary

Blacksmith Agency LLC in South Africa is seeking a Generative AI Engineer to own and ship our automation roadmap. This is a builder role, not a research role. You will not train models, but you will build production systems on top of them.

You will work directly with engineering and delivery leadership to convert a documented roadmap into shipped, working systems. Ideal candidates have built things with LLMs and can demonstrate it.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.
• English sufficient for async written work with a US-based team.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship our internal automation roadmap as Generative AI Engineer.
• Turn a documented automation roadmap into shipped production systems on top of LLMs.
• Collaborate with engineering and delivery leadership to implement end-to-end automation workflows.
• Build agentic workflows and integrations with external APIs and tools.

You work directly with engineering and delivery leadership to take a documented roadmap of automation workflows and turn them into shipped, working systems. This role is for someone who has already built things with LLMs and can show it.

What You Will Build

• Agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent frameworks.
• Integrations with Anthropic and OpenAI APIs including tool use and function calling.
• Internal tools that reduce manual hours across our design and development production process.
• Automation pipelines connecting WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace and our internal CMS.
• MCP server integrations as part of our broader AI stack.

What You Bring
