Job summary

Weylandts is seeking a General Worker (Sander) to assist in upholstery and furniture manufacturing. You will help with production support, packing, dispatch, and housekeeping, ensuring quality and safety at all times.

The role requires Grade 10/Matric, good communication, and the ability to work well in a team. Sanding experience is essential, and overtime may be needed to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the manufacturing of furniture products according to work instructions.

• Prepare materials, tools, and workstations before production begins.
• Perform basic assembly and fitting of furniture components.
• Wrap, pack, and label finished products; load products for delivery when required.
• Verify quantities and product codes before dispatch.

Purpose of the Job

Toassistin the manufacturing, assembly, finishing, packing, and movement of furniture products whilemaintainingquality, productivity, and workplace safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

• Assistwith the manufacturing of furniture products according to work instructions.

• Load, unload, and transport materials, components, and finished goods within the factory.

• Support upholsterers, machinists, carpenters, assemblers, sanders, and packers asrequired.

• Prepare materials, tools, and workstations before production begins.

• Perform basic assembly and fitting of furniture components.

Housekeeping

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

• Remove waste materials and dispose of them according to company procedures.

• Maintain factory cleanliness andassistwith general housekeeping duties.

Quality

• Follow quality standards and report defects to supervisors.

• Handle materials and products carefully to prevent damage.

• Ensure completed work meets company specifications.

Safety

• Follow all health and safety procedures.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and accidentsimmediately.

• Use equipment and tools safely and responsibly.

Packing and Dispatch

• Assistwith wrapping, packing, andlabelingfinished products.

• Load products for delivery whenrequired.

• Verify quantities and product codes before dispatch.

MinimumRequirements

• Grade 10 or Matric preferred.

• Previousmanufacturing or factory experienceadvantageous.

• Sanding Experience a MUST.

• Good communicationskills.
