Job summary

Weylandts in Cape Town seeks a General Worker for Upholstery and Furniture Manufacturing to assist in production, packing and dispatch. You will support upholsterers, machinists, carpenters, assemblers, sanders and packers, while helping to maintain quality and safety standards.

Role requires Grade 10 or matric, good teamwork and communication skills, and willingness to work overtime as needed. Prior factory experience is advantageous in this hands-on position.

General Worker – Upholstery and Furniture Manufacturing

Purpose of the Job

Toassistin the manufacturing, assembly, finishing, packing, and movement of furniture products whilemaintainingquality, productivity, and workplace safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

• Assistwith the manufacturing of furniture products according to work instructions.

• Load, unload, and transport materials, components, and finished goods within the factory.

• Support upholsterers, machinists, carpenters, assemblers, sanders, and packers asrequired.

• Prepare materials, tools, and workstations before production begins.

• Perform basic assembly and fitting of furniture components.

Housekeeping

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

• Remove waste materials and dispose of them according to company procedures.

• Maintain factory cleanliness andassistwith general housekeeping duties.

Quality

• Follow quality standards and report defects to supervisors.

• Handle materials and products carefully to prevent damage.

• Ensure completed work meets company specifications.

Safety

• Follow all health and safety procedures.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and accidentsimmediately.

• Use equipment and tools safely and responsibly.

Packing and Dispatch

• Assistwith wrapping, packing, andlabelingfinished products.

• Load products for delivery whenrequired.

• Verify quantities and product codes before dispatch.

MinimumRequirements

• Grade 10 or Matric preferred.

• Previousmanufacturing or factory experienceadvantageous.

• Frame Making experience advantageous

• Good communicationskills.

• Ability to work in a team environment.
