A multinational organization is seeking a General Manager for its Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will manage compliance-related activities, oversee office administration, and liaise with both local and international teams. Serve as the company's external representative in South Africa, maintaining effective communication with government bodies, labor unions, community stakeholders, and public institutions to support a compliant and stable operating environment.
Lead compliance-related matters for administrative and HR activities to ensure alignment with South African laws and regulations; support licensing, certification, audit inquiries, and documentation management.
Oversee daily office administration and HR coordination, including supervision of reception, office administration staff, cleaning, security, and HR support personnel; operate under a dual reporting structure to both the South African President and the corresponding functional teams in China, ensuring execution of local management requirements while supporting headquarters' administrative and HR policies and processes.
Act as a liaison between the South African team and Chinese management, supporting smooth cross-cultural communication and effective execution of organizational directives.
Provide regular reports and local operational insights to the President, along with relevant management recommendations.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the President, particularly those involving external coordination and internal administrative support.
Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Public Administration, Law, Business, Human Resources, or related fields.
Minimum 5 years of management or coordination experience in South Africa, preferably in administration, HR, or public affairs roles.
Knowledge of South African labor laws and union engagement practices; experience in government or community liaison is an advantage.
Experience working in multicultural or Chinese-invested organizations is preferred, with strong coordination and communication skills.
Professional and reliable communication style, capable of representing the company externally.
South African citizenship required; fluency in English is essential, with additional local languages, such as isiZulu, Afrikaans and etc., considered an advantage.
