Job summary

Medipost Holdings is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Worker to perform general maintenance across facilities, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and inspections. You will support the maintenance manager and team leader to ensure standards are met and services run smoothly.

The role requires Matric and at least 2 years of general maintenance experience, with ideal candidates holding an Electrical Trade Test and a Code 10 driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Matric required.
• 2 years experience in general maintenance work.
• Ideal: experience as General Worker, Electrical Trade Test, Code 10 Driver’s license.
• Training: GWP and SOP.
• Competencies include physical strength, hand-eye coordination, endurance, concentration, and ability to use tools and machines.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair furniture and fixtures as part of general maintenance.
• Perform basic plumbing maintenance on toilets, basins, hydroboils and water coolers.
• Check electrical systems (lights) and ensure functionality; replace light fittings and electrical components under supervision.
• Assist maintenance team leader in correcting items from housekeeping audit.
• Assist in moving office furniture and equipment and performing maintenance at Medipost premises.
• Conduct scheduled inspections of buildings, equipment and generators; assist in refilling generators during outages.

Job description

The primary purpose of this job is to provide general and multi-disciplined repair and maintenance duties including but not limited to handy works consisting of welding, carpentry, tiling, plastering, lubricating, filling of crevices, hanging of doors, general building maintenance works, basic plumbing works (installing and replacing taps, showers and related parts, attending to blockages, leaking and/or running toilets, toilet seats, silicone works, sealing, etc.) and basic electrical works (installing and replacing tubes, bulbs and related parts, repair and/or replace, hydroboils, plugs, etc.) and paintwork in compliance with local authority specifications and in line with best industry practice as well as to ensure that South Point standards and requirements are met at all times. To assist maintenance manager and the maintenance team leader with all facilities maintenance request. The incumbent provides technical support with regard to reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:-

• Inspect and repair table and chairs.
• Perform basic plumbing maintenance on, toilets, basins, hydroboils and Water coolers.
• Checking of electrical (lights), plumbing, air-condition and other systems to ensure functionality.
• Replacement of light fittings, bulbs, plugs and any electrical installation under the supervision of the maintenance team leader/manager.
• Assist maintenance team leader in correcting items listed on the house keeping audit.
• Assist in moving office furniture and equipment.
• Performing maintenance work at any of the Medipost premises.
• Preforming schedule inspection of building and equipment
• Perform scheduled inspection of generators
• Assist in refilling generators during and after power outages.
