Job Overview

The role of a Maintenance involves overseeing various aspects of facility management and handling transportation duties to ensure smooth operations, a safe, functional environment. The Maintenance attendant plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of facilities within an organization. Facilities Attendants play a critical role in ensuring that facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained, contributing to a positive and functional environment for everyone who uses the facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning and Sanitising: Perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure that facilities are clean, sanitized, and presentable. This includes cleaning restrooms, offices, common areas, and other designated spaces.
• Trash and Waste Management: Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins regularly and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
• Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and cleaning products to ensure that facilities are adequately stocked and prepared for use.
• Basic Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and repairing minor damage to furniture or fixtures.
• Safety and Security: Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and address safety hazards or security concerns. Ensure that emergency exits are clear and accessible, and that safety equipment is properly maintained.
• Event Setup and Breakdown: Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture, equipment, and materials for events, meetings, or special functions as needed.
• Groundskeeping: Perform basic groundskeeping tasks, such as lawn mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance, to ensure that exterior areas of the facilities are well-maintained and presentable.
• Assisting Visitors: Provide assistance and directions to visitors, answer questions, and direct them to appropriate personnel or locations within the facilities.
• Compliance: Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and follow established protocols and procedures for facility management.
• Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of cleaning and maintenance activities, inventory levels, and equipment inspections.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other facilities staff and departments to ensure that facilities are maintained to high standards and that tasks are completed efficiently.
• Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service to internal stakeholders, such as employees, as well as external visitors or clients who may interact with the facilities.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks or duties as assigned by management to support the overall functioning of the facilities.

Theoretical Knowledge And Experience

• Matric Certificate
• Certifications such as Certified Custodial Technician (CCT) or Certified Building Service Executive (CBSE) can demonstrate proficiency and commitment to excellence in facilities management and custodial services is an advantage.
• Familiarity with cleaning techniques, equipment, and products is essential.
