Job summary

EF Education First in Cape Town is seeking a permanent full-time in-center English Teacher to join our team at Touchstone House, 7 Bree Street. You’ll conduct 40-45 minute group and private lessons for adult learners and provide progress reports.

You'll train through EF's programs, have access to ongoing professional development, and work a fixed 8-hour day with a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00, in our city-center office.

Qualifications

• South African residency required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (NQF Level 7).
• TEFL preferred; course provided within first month if not held.

Full Time: In Center English Teacher

Teacher Operations Manager

As a Teach Online English teacher, you'll get great experience working in an international company while helping our adult learners from over 120 countries meet their personal and professional goals of learning English! Teachers receive extensive training on EF’s sophisticated, yet easy to use online classroom, and are also able to participate in ongoing professional development programs. Lesson materials are created by our academic team, so you can focus your energy on connecting personally with each student you meet in our group and private lessons.

As a permanent full-time online ESL teacher, you’ll benefit from a stable salary and a set schedule, working from our conveniently located office in Touchstone House, 7 Bree Street, Cape Town, 8001

Responsibilities

• Conduct 40- to 45-minute conversation - based group and private online lessons with adult learners.
• Provide after class reports to all students, detailing their progress and on-going recommendations for improvement.
• Attend ongoing trainings, which is an essential requirement in EF’s superior teaching products.
• With more experience, create your own custom lesson material.

Work Hours

Full time Teachers work on a fixed schedule.

Hours: 8 hours per day / 40 hours a week

Shift on offer:

• Days: Monday to Friday
• Time: 09:00 - 18:00
• Gross Monthly Salary: R7,627.00
• Additionally, you will have the opportunity to earn a discretionary travel allowance.

Requirements

• South African Residency. You must live in South Africa and be in possession of a South African identity card.
• C2 level English speaker with a neutral accent
• Completed Bachelor’s degree or a qualification equivalent to NQF Level 7 (Compulsory)
• TEFL teaching qualifications (Preferred). If you do not have a TEFL qualification, EF will provide you with a TEFL course and must be completed within the first month of your contract.
• Highly computer literate
• Required to work from our office in Cape Town city centre
• Professional, energetic, and excited about people
• Previous teaching experience is a plus, but not required. Other work experience counts.
