Job summary

The Sumer Group is seeking an FP&A Analyst in Johannesburg to strengthen the finance team. You will drive month-end reporting, consolidating data from multiple entities and delivering accurate, timely reports.

You will also support budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc analysis as the business grows. Ideal candidates are highly organized, precise, and comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in finance, accounting or FP&A.
• Experienced in preparing management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and presentations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookup functions (XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH), SUMIFS, PivotTables and working efficiently with large datasets.
• Power Query experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint and Word for reporting.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail with tight deadlines.
• Experience across multiple entities with varying data formats.
• Familiarity with Xero and Fathom for financial reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaborative in a dispersed team.
• Experience with Power BI dashboards or reports.
• Interest or experience using AI tools to improve analysis or productivity.

Responsibilities

• Month-end reporting: Prepare, consolidate and validate data for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Modelling and forecasting: Maintain and update financial models, budgets and forecasts with clear documentation.
• Analysis: Track KPIs, investigate variances, summarize findings for senior finance staff.
• Presentation of results: Build and refine reports and management presentations with consistent formatting.
• Data integrity: Reconcile and update data in financial systems, maintain data organisation.
• Planning and delivery: Manage deadlines across entities, maintain trackers and version control.
• Ad-hoc and improvement: Support ad-hoc analysis, projects and automation opportunities.
