Job summary

Sumer Group in Johannesburg is seeking an FP&A Analyst to join our growing finance team. You will be central to our month-end reporting cycle, turning large volumes of financial data from multiple organisations into accurate, timely and well-presented reporting.

As the business expands, you will also support budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc analysis. This role suits someone highly organised, with a passion for accuracy and meeting firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in finance, accounting or FP&A.
• Experienced in preparing management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and presentations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookup functions (XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH), SUMIFS, PivotTables; Power Query advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for reporting (PowerPoint/Word).
• Exceptional organisation and attention to detail with ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Comfortable working across multiple entities and data formats.
• Familiarity with Xero and Fathom for reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative teamwork across locations.
• Experience with Power BI for dashboards and reports.
• Interest in applying AI tools to improve analysis or productivity.

Responsibilities

• Month-end reporting: Prepare, consolidate and validate financial data from multiple organisations to support monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Modelling and forecasting: Maintain and update financial models, budgets and forecasts, ensuring formulas, links and assumptions are accurate and well documented.
• Analysis: Track and analyse KPIs, investigate variances, and summarise findings clearly for senior finance staff.
• Presentation of results: Build and refine reports and presentations for management, ensuring consistent formatting and accuracy.
• Data integrity: Perform reconciliations and data updates in financial systems, and maintain the integrity and organisation of financial databases.
• Planning and delivery: Manage competing deadlines across multiple entities, keeping files, trackers and version control in good order.
• Ad-hoc and improvement: Support ad-hoc analysis, projects and process improvements, including opportunities to automate recurring tasks.
